THE “CLOUD” HAS BECOME A STORM
The Storm Clouds has arrived in smart cities. A project specially designed for public services.
The cloud, as we already know, is a computer system that allows to store, process and use the data stored remotely through the Internet .
The cloud provides an intelligent management of data , information and services that can support the projects of public entities, private companies, students and citizens in general.
It is organized into categories and labels facilitates navigation routes and services. Thanks to its policy, it guarantees the privacy and sustainability of its service, which represents a good tool of public and governmental utility .
It is a simple way and a solution that integrates many functionalities of use. Cloud computing provides great advantages in costs, efficiency, accessibility and acceleration and innovative progress. Its usefulness is extended to a very diverse public, citizens, public or private companies, government, etc.
Cloud computing allows on-demand access to a shared set of configurable computing resources. That is, it allows access to networks, servers, computer applications, storage systems and various services.
WHY THE CLOUD IS IMPORTANT IN INTELLIGENT CITIES
The ease of access and efficient connectivity offered by the “cloud” can be a very convenient tool for the large volume of interactions that occurs in an intelligent city.
The organization of a smart city requires complex and continuous interactions that require a fast and efficient connectivity response .
The cloud can provide solutions in this regard by offering a system that allows connections and the exchange of data and information efficiently and effectively .
Given the expansion of the market and information, multinationals are incorporating a large-scale cloud computing strategy. Also the governments of different countries such as the United States, the EU, the United Kingdom, China, Japan, Australia and others, have taken actions towards cloud computing, driven by the need to reduce costs and move more quickly towards digital innovation.
THE CLOUD IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD
Specifically, the United States already in 2009 proposed the Federal Initiative of Cloud Computing FCCI involving federal governments and public institutions.
From the FCCI they initiated new initiatives in the United States to promote the adoption of cloud computing .
In Europe there is still a need to unite the common consensus and the most effective will. Although already in 2012 Europe launched the campaign ” Unleash the potential of cloud computing in Europe .”
The European Commission then recommended to the member countries a rapid adoption of the cloud in their governance infrastructures to accelerate the economy in the member countries. It established as a priority the development in a single European market for cloud services .
Despite the intention of the European Commission, the Board of Directors of the European Cloud Partnership has identifiedsome obstacles that Europe currently has to solve.
Some legal and technical barriers impede the development of Europe in the cloud. To solve it, the Board proposes a new change in legal and operational guidelines.
Another aspect to be solved is the need for a broader consensus among public, business and citizen authorities.
In Australia and his government launched a draft national strategy for incorporation into cloud computing, with the purpose of increasing efficiency in public services, government agencies, etc. In fact, its ” Government Cloud Computing Policy ” report provides directives for the hiring and use of cloud services.
Japan in turn is promoting strategies for incorporation in the cloud for both the central government ” Project Kasumigaseki “, as for local governments. And so the government of Hong Kong and that of South Korea .
