Look no further. At last the exact place where the true Holy Grail rests is known, and even the Ark of the Covenant, or at least so claims to know David Adkins, an amateur of local history, English, and intrepid treasure hunter inthe style of Nicolas Cage, when he played Benjamin Franklin Gates in the film National Treasure, The Search. According to him the legendary treasure would be hidden in a well-known historical building in Burton, England.
The treasure lost for decades would be buried somewhere under the foundations of the historic Sinai Park House, a Grade II listed building built in the 13th century located near Burton upon Trent in Staffordhire, England. And this time the crypt could be as big as Westminster Abbey itself, not far from there.
THE DATA THAT SUPPORTS HIS THEORY
Adkins theory is based on his peculiar interpretation of the story of Burton Abbey Estate. Apparently he is not the first to explore the place in search of the famous treasure, many before him have suspected that there somewhere under the emblematic building could be hidden the Templar treasure, composed of innumerable relics brought from the Holy Land, jewels with priceless gems, gold objects and precious jewelry.
David affirms a geologist whose name has not revealed said that under the Sinai House had natural caverns formed at the end of the last ice age that areas large as Westminster Abbey. The Templars would have considered these caverns a perfect place to hide their treasure and the holy relics brought from Jerusalem.
According to the intrepid treasure hunter, investigations carried out by explorers in 1880 discovered a secret underground passage between the walls of the cellar. During the exploration they found the gallery obstructed, and in order to advance they had to force the partition that hindered the passage. While attempting to penetrate, the explorers were driven away by strange vapors that surrounded them and prevented them fromadvancing.
After the event, the stone arch of the historic Sinai House Park cellarwas bricked up, and since then access to the secret gallery has been blocked and inaccessible. According to him, this could be the passageway that leads to a huge room or cavern (as big as Westminster Abbey) full of Templar treasures among which we would find the Holy Grail and the Ark of the Covenant with its heavy stone slabs where they would be inscribed the ten Commandments.
Sinai Park House is located in Burton Abbey Estate, according to their claims the Temple of the Poor Knights of Solomon, also known as that of the Knights Templar, which was originally founded by the French-born knight Hughes de Payens in 1191, are related, although he does not explain exactly in what way.
He added that when the Templars left Jerusalem they went to England and hid the treasure in the underground caverns under the Sinai House.
The medieval Westminster Abbey belonging to Burton Abbey, knowing this fact and interested in owning and protecting the treasure hidden there, took possession of the Sinai House when the Templars left the place.
From its origins Burton Abbey, the “smallest and most miserable in England” (as described by Benedictine monks in 1310) was first erected, they say, by a wandering Irish woman in 666, less than a mile from Sinai House, became the most important place of worship in the center of England. But its first official foundation is dated in 1003, and later it was re-founded in 1541. According to him, the fact that during the previous 700 years no one wanted to buy the abbey would confirm that the treasure is there. And that the sudden interest was caused by the expectation of finding the treasure hidden under their lands.
However, according to the records documented at that time, the number of monks increased considerably in the abbey, thus increasing the need for more space for their accommodation, preferably near the abbey, so this could also be the cause.
It also holds that William Paget, 1st Baron Paget (1506-1563) was the first Grand Master of the Temple. As we know he obtained large tracts of land, including Burton Abbey. According to him, he had a special interest in preserving the Burton Abbey property where the Sinai house is located because he suspected that the treasure was, and says that during a restructuring Paget took apart the building brick by brick to find it.
However, despite all these indications, there is no evidence or historical record to support his theory. It is based only on assumptions and interpretations some far removed from the historical reference documents. Therefore, experts question it with reserve due to its lack of solidity and documentary rigor.
And it is that indeed there have been many legends, especially Masonic legends of the eighteenth century that have been shown fictitious trying to demonstrate their link and reinforcing their legacy, forging superficial and ambiguous historical connections with the myth of the Holy Grail, the Templars and other ancient chivalric orders.
